The Community Needs Assessment is an essential resource for United Way of Cumberland County (UWCC) to better understand the challenges and opportunities within our community. By analyzing the findings, we empower our volunteers, staff, and partners to strategically allocate resources and implement initiatives that enhance the quality of life for everyone in Cumberland County.
A Speak Out! Initiative
As part of the Speak Out! Initiative, the Community Needs Assessment ensures that every voice in our community is heard. Through surveys and focus groups, participants identify and rate various issues—such as health, education, financial stability, and basic critical needs—as major, moderate, minor, or not an issue. This feedback is invaluable in helping us pinpoint the most pressing challenges and prioritize funding to address them effectively.
How We Keep It Relevant
To ensure our efforts remain impactful, we’ve updated survey questions based on input from recent focus groups, reflecting emerging trends and community priorities. This commitment to inclusivity and relevance allows us to better address the needs of Cumberland County.
Get Involved
We are currently in the process of conducting the next Community Needs Assessment. Stay engaged and lend your voice to help us shape a stronger, more connected future for Cumberland County!
Together, we can build a Culture of Care, where every need is recognized, and every opportunity is pursued for a better tomorrow.
Past Assessments
In 2016–2017, United Way conducted a comprehensive Community Needs Assessment to identify the most pressing needs in Cumberland County. This report was developed through local focus groups, a community-wide survey, and additional research.
