Letter Carriers Food Drive
The Letter Carriers’ “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive—the nation’s largest all-volunteer one-day food collection efforts to help our community stamp out hunger. On Saturday, May 10th, the public is asked to leave bags of non-perishable food by their mailboxes for local Letter Carriers to collect, or if they wish, they can deliver them to your local post office. Most needed items include canned meats & vegetables, crackers & cereal, dried fruit, and juice. No glass, please.
Once the Letter Carriers return to their Post Offices, volunteers are on-site to unload the food from the postal trucks, sort the food, and load it into Food Bank trucks returning to our branches. Participants will be located at various postal locations throughout Cumberland County and Second Harvest Food Bank to unload and sort donated food. Requirements: Closed-toe shoes; working gloves; informal attire such as jeans/t-shirts.
