Robert joined the United Way of Cumberland in 2004. Before joining the United Way of Cumberland County he was the Campaign Manager for the United Way of Northeastern New York. There, he maintained a 7.3M campaign for three years. Robert has also served as the President for the Upward Foundation, a school for children with special needs. Earlier he served as a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., the John Hopkins Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at the University of Virginia.
Robert is a graduate of Saint Augustine’s College and currently sits on the boards of Methodist University, Partnership for Children of Cumberland County,
the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of North Carolina. Robert is an honorary commander for the 43rd Medical Squadron at Pope Air Force Base and is the Chairman for the 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness.
Robert is responsible for overall operations of the United Way; from development, policy, procedures to community relations.

Brian Allen, Director of Marketing & Communications ext. 229

Brian joined the United Way of Cumberland County in 2010 after stints as a fundraiser for
Louisburg College and Campbell University.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Barton College and is married with one daughter.
Brian is responsible for the marketing plan, the development of United Way messages and will manage the
communications strategic strategy.
Marilynn Montenegro, Resource Development Director, ext. 228

Marilynn joined the United Way of Cumberland County in 2010 after working sixteen years in advertising and marketing,
most recently for The Fayetteville Observer.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and is completing her MBA from Florida Technology Institute.
Marilynn is responsible for all fundraising programs and donor relations.
Cystal McNair, Community Impact Manager - ext. 231

Crystal joined the United Way of Cumberland County in 2001 after working as a Campaign Associate for the
United Way in Greensboro.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Crystal is a native of
Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
She is a mother of 3 children.
Crystal is responsible for the MDLP, Speaker’s Bureau, Community Impact Panels, Information/Referrals and all FEMA programs.
She is also the liaison to partner agencies.
